THE FULL RIG

Every setup, corner by corner — the complete technical breakdown for music directors, engineers, and anyone doing tech due diligence. Nothing here is decoration; every piece has to earn its space.

HYBRID — ROLAND LAYER

Roland SPD-SX Pro

This handles my clicks, cues, samples, one-shots, and backing tracks. On a simple service it stays out of the way. On a bigger set, it becomes the center of the hybrid rig.

HYBRID — LEAVE-BEHIND KIT

Yamaha Stage Custom, ready to go

This Yamaha Stage Custom setup is my portable / leave-behind hybrid rig for churches that do not have a house set, for rooms where I need to bring my own setup, or for situations where leaving a prepared kit in place makes the job easier week to week. It keeps the spacing and feel of a real kit while the Roland layer handles click, cues, samples, and tracks.

  • Yamaha Stage Custom 4-piece — 22" kick, 10" + 12" racks, 14" floor
  • Evans G2 over G1 on toms · EMAD 2 kick
  • RT-30 triggers mounted
  • RTOM Black Hole mesh heads where the room calls for silence
  • SPD-SX Pro + iPad/iRig playback integration as needed

AUXILIARY PERCUSSION

When the drum chair is covered

Some rooms already have the drum chair covered. Auxiliary percussion lets me support the arrangement without crowding the kit — bongos, chimes, cowbell, hand percussion, and electronic textures from the SPD-SX Pro when the music calls for it.

LOW-VOLUME / ELECTRONIC

Roland + RTOM, volume where the house needs it

When the room cannot take a full acoustic kit, the Roland and RTOM setup brings the volume down while keeping the spacing and feel familiar.

FROM THE CHAIR TO THE CUT

Recording + playback + content

The same setup that runs the service also captures the work. iRig Pro Duo I/O for mobile audio, Logic Pro for recording and playback prep, and Final Cut Pro for performance clips.

VIEW SETUP DETAILS
  • iRig Pro Duo I/O
  • M4 iPad Pro — Logic + iRig Recorder on the go
  • Logic Pro

  • Roland Fantom keyboard — writing and production

The acoustic kit carries the room. The Roland layer handles samples, clicks, and playback. The electronic configuration brings the volume down without changing how the chair feels. The mobile recording chain captures clean audio without turning every service into a production day. Every piece has to earn its space.
